I'm Amy Pishner

I'm the Founder, Owner, and Head Trainer of Valor K9 Academy. I'm a triple certified dog trainer through Starmark Academy, Vohne Liche Kennels, and The Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers. After college, I served in the Air Force and Wisconsin Air National Guard before pursing my passion for dog training. I started working with dogs professionally in 2013, and since then I've trained thousands of dogs in various settings.

I'm honored to be your trainer.

My Story

My love for dogs began when I was a little girl. My best friend growing up was a rescued Collie named Lady. After graduating from college, I followed in my father's footsteps and joined the military where I was stationed in North Carolina. I spent most of my free time volunteering at the local animal shelter fostering, training, and rehoming dogs with various kinds of behavioral issues.

When I adopted an abused older puppy named Zoey, her fears challenged me to uncover new ways to help her. I dove into dog training and came up with a system that starts with building a strong foundation based on communication, motivation, and relationship. Now I empower others on their journey to having a happy, healthy, well-behaved dog.

Why I Do It

Professional dog training is not a term I ever heard growing up. Nowadays, dogs are a part of the family, and they deserve quality training. Dogs trained using my method are joyful, confident, and obedient. They're active learners who are engaged in training and love to learn.

My aim is to set dogs up for success. I strive to help them become go-anywhere, do-anything pets who are comfortable in their own skin and enjoyable to be around. I want to help owners feel calm, confident, and in control so they can enjoy their four-legged friend.

My goal is to keep dogs in their homes and out of the shelter.
